The story happens on a Chaharshanbe Soori night (the last Wednesday of the year). Doghdoo is soaking dried peas in water to make Sabze (sprouts) for Haft Seen table. As Aziz sees the soaked peas, she gets mad. "Those peas are a special kind! You shouldn’t have soaked them," she cries. Aziz digs a hole in the yard and puts the peas in it, but she doesn't know that one of them, called Nokhodi, is hiding under a kitchen cabinet.
During the night, a gigantic tree grows in the yard and two ogres, called Poosh and Boushasb, come down from it to Aziz's house...
